Disintegration was released in June! One of independent games of last month which attracted a lot of attention. You ask why? I’d say maybe because Marcus Lehto leads the developing team. Marcus Lehto is the co-creator of Halo universe! Halo series fan should know this guy very well. He was also the artist responsible for Master Chief. So, he is well known because of what he has done as a member of Microsoft team. Now Marcus Lehto has his own team. He is the head of V1 Interactive and their newest released game is called “ Disintegration “. V1 Interactive can have a bright future. But for now, Disintegration is not really a promising game. The game doesn’t match the expectations and meanwhile, we are not facing with a disappointing game. Disintegration is trying to be a unique game. In some aspects, developer team have done a good job but there are also some problems which are undeniable. The game might be entertaining for some fans but it’s not recommended for everyone! Today, we want to discuss about the quality of Disintegration. V1 Interactive game is known for a lot of gamers because of Marcus Lehto. So stay with us in Gamefa and let’s see what this game is offering us!
For first person shooter games like Call of Duty, Battlefield, Homefront, Medal of Honor and Halo series, plot and narrative are not the most important things. However, any lack of quality in this aspect is not acceptable. Same goes for Disintegration. Do not forget that Disintegration is an independent game. In these days, you can see a lot of independent games are praised because of their story. But for Disintegration, it does not happen.
Actually, the story of Disintegration has a good start. A little different than what we see in other games. But that’s not enough. At the beginning, you might enjoy but more you progress, more you feel weakness in Disintegration story. Disintegration takes place in future on earth and you will have to control the protagonist named Romer Shoal. A man who’s brain is now in an immortal robotic body; similar to a lot of other people on earth; the difference is that, the other did this voluntary. Before this happens to Romer Shoal, he was a celebrity and he was forced to be a robot. In Disintegration, earth is in danger and robots don’t need food, they don’t use energy and they don’t get tired. The goal is, making human immortal and make them resistant against natural disaster. Transforming human to robots, at least is a temporary solution. This is not a bad idea until “ Rayonne “ led by Col. Black Shuck starts using robots for his own purposes; creates a big army of robots and force people to become immortal. The game starts where Romer Shoal escapes from prison and along with his companions , start a war against Rayonne.
As we said before, Romer Shoal is leader of the group, a celebrity and a Gravcycle driver. You don’t know what Gravecycle is, right? Gravecycle is a vehicle, something like a flying motorcycle. One of the most important parts of gameplay, is using the Gravecycle for different purposes. Thank to your Gravecycle, Romer Shoal can gets himself to the battlefield and kill his enemies. Being a leader is completely touchable in Disintegration gameplay. You can give orders to maximum 4 members of your unit to do something at the same time. The good news, is that your allies AI is acceptable. Your men do whatever you tell them to do exactly in a same way you want. They don’t make mistakes. Issues with AI is something we see in a lot of AAA games. V1 Interactive have done a good job in this aspect of the game. So, you can count on your men. Except from a leader, you are also something like a backup for your men. Orders you can give your men include holding position, taking cover, attacking or using their unique skills. Managing and commanding your men is going to be enjoyable. As I said, sometimes you are your men backup. Here is somewhere else that Gravcycle shows his importance. By default, you have two gadgets equipped your Gravecycle. Gravecycle is an important thing in Disintegration gameplay but unfortunately it is not perfect. For example, one of the vehicle issues is about controlling it. Plus, when you reach middle of the game, using this vehicle will be repetitive and You don’t enjoy your Gravecycle the way you did in the beginning of the game.
You remember Assassin’s Creed Origins? It doesn’t matter how good or bad the game was. You could always feel that side mission are going to be repeat and repeat and repeat. You had to do the same thing over and over and over again. Along with that, side missions were too long sometimes. This is a big problem for any game. Disintegration’s missions do not look all the same which is a good thing. I admire V1 Interactive for making missions look different. So the problem, is not the mission’s verity. But the bad news, is that most of the missions of the game, are too long. Long enough for gamer to feel bored and tired. You see a lot of missions which take about an hour to complete. Well, it’s really annoying. But as I mentioned, mission verity of Disintegration is fine. V1 Interactive was creative in designing the game missions. Developer made a good use of RTS elements and you can feel through your missions.
Remember that the developer team behind Disintegration, are experienced enough. Most of V1 Interactive team members used to work on AAA games in well known studios. Disintegration has a good and entertaining multiplayer mode. Just like other famous first person shooter games. This is what we expect from V1 Interactive team. V1 Interactive is aware that multiplayer mode is so important for a FPS. Multiplayer in Disintegration includes 3 modes; Collector, Retrieval and Zone Control. For example, in Collector mode, the team who gets 100 points first, is the winner. Basically, it’s like a deathmatch mode. In overall, multiplayer part of the game kept the wolf away from the door.
If you want to introduce Disintegration, you can tell that this game was developed by co creator of Halo and his team. It’s an important thing but, there is something more important; game quality. It’s not fair to call Disintegration a bad game. Meanwhile, it’s not an honor for V1 Interactive. Developer had good ideas but implementation is not very good. Inspired by Halo series, Disintegration can be an entertaining game for some gamers, but not all of them. If you liked Halo, Anthem and Destiny, you might have a chance to enjoy Disintegration as well. Can’t say it’s not a worthy game but 50 dollars for this game? Well… I think it doesn’t worth it.
