Star Wars: Battlefront Doesn’t Have Server Browsing, Will Use Matchmaking

After announcing yesterday that a beta would be coming in early October, official confirmation has come from DICE about how multiplayer will work in the game. Instead of browsing and choosing servers like in the Battlefield series, Star Wars Battlefront will offer skill-based matchmaking.

Server browsing has long been a feature in the Battlefield games, across all platforms. DICE did not offer any comment on private matches or if players can join their friends in-game. The details about the game’s servers (or lack thereof) came from a developer’s comment on reddit:

Comment from discussion Happy to confirm our Star Wars Battlefront Beta (Early October). The lack of dedicated server-swapping has some players, particularly those on PC, upset. More details about the game and its online performance will likely be revealed when the beta rolls around in October. Star Wars Battlefront will be available for PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 17.
