Helldivers 2 is a third-person shooter game developed by Arrowhead Game Studios. It’s the sequel to Helldivers, a top-down shooter which was released back in 2015. And this game has been getting a lot of attention recently.

This game recorded over 150,000 concurrent users on Steam on its launch day, making it the most successful PC launch in the history of PlayStation’s publishing efforts. Its Steam concurrent record  surpassed games like Grant Theft Auto V, Starfield, Counter-Strike, and Destiny 2.

Moreover, At only 40$, The game’s affordable price compared to other AAA titles nowadays contributed to its high sales. Many players chose Helldivers 2 over more expensive and often less polished games, leading to greater profits for Arrowhead Game Studios.

Funnily enough, The success of Helldivers 2 has led to a resurgence in popularity for Starship Troopers, the sci-fi franchise that inspired the game.

It’s not surprising to see that following the huge success of this online shooter, Xbox fans are collecting signatures for the Helldivers 2 experience. They have collected 4000 signatures in 3 days to see this popular game released on their platform. It should be mentioned that Phil Spencer recently praised Helldivers 2 and said that the Playstation exclusivity will not benefit anyone. Fans say that the release of Helldivers 2 for Xbox could tone down the console war and make the atmosphere friendlier. On the other hand, the new head of PlayStation is looking for maximum profitability.

Xbox just recently announced that four of its exclusives will be coming to other platforms, so no one really can predict what is going to happen regarding exclusives in the future.

Despite server issues due to the unexpected popularity, Helldivers 2 managed to maintain a large player base. The game even had to limit the number of concurrent players to around 450,000 to improve stability. And very recently Arrowhead Game Studio CEO Johan Pilestedt announced in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Helldivers 2 now has a higher server cap for concurrent players. The new server limit for simultaneous Helldivers 2 players on PC and PS5 is now 700,000, which is about 50% more than the previous limit of 450,000 simultaneous players.

Helldivers 2 developer Arrowhead Game Studios has also announced that it will be releasing updates on PS5 and PC to tackle the most serious problems the game is currently facing, including login, matchmaking, and server load. The first of these fixes arrived on February 20. Arrowhead has a plan to make continuous improvements over the days and weeks to come to ensure a smooth experience for all players. They even talked about stopping sales until these issues are resolved for a better experience.
