Stellar Blade has not even hit the market but the game’s developer, Shift Up Studio, is preparing to start development on its next project.
While there are not a lot of details available, recently, a change was made on the company’s website to refer to a “new project” that is known as a “next-generation, multi-platform project”. This shows that it will be with a multiplayer title. On the site, there is also a job listing that is related to the project in question.
What Is Stellar Blade?
Originally announced as Project EVE in 2021, Stellar Blade is an action-packed adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world. Exclusive to the PlayStation 5, it combines fast-paced combat, stunning visuals, and a gripping narrative. Players step into the shoes of Eve, a powerful warrior battling monstrous creatures and unraveling the mysteries of a devastated Earth.
No Microtransactions (Almost)
In an interview with Korean publication Ruliweb, Director Kim Hyung Tae emphasized that Stellar Blade will not include any hidden costs beyond the initial purchase. Players won’t encounter pesky microtransactions during their journey through this futuristic universe.
Tae clarified, “We want to make it clear that Stellar Blade won’t require any additional expenses beyond what gamers paid for the package. The only exception would be if we create collaboration costumes with another company’s IP, which may be sold for a fee.” So, while the core game remains microtransaction-free, fans can anticipate unique crossover content.
Stellar Blade will receive a New Game+ mode post-launch. While it won’t be available immediately upon release, players can look forward to diving back into the game with enhanced challenges and rewards.
Controversy
Despite the positive reception surrounding Stellar Blade, there have been some controversies. On the official support website, Microsoft encourages developers to avoid “designing female characters with exaggerated bodies.”
Many western developers object to the “material and instrumental view” of women and the creation of unrealistic characters in games. Stellar Blade is the latest title to raise some eyebrows with its attractive female character, although even this title is based on a real-life model.
