As one of the biggest gaming events of the year, Gamescom 2024 promises exciting announcements, game reveals, and hands on experiences. Taking place in Germany, from August 20 to 24, the event will host some of the biggest names in the gaming industry.

Among the confirmed attendees are Microsoft, Sony, and Ubisoft. Microsoft is expected to showcase more footage of Starfield and potentially tease new content for Halo Infinite. Fans are also eager to learn more about Fable, which could finally get an updated gameplay trailer. Sony might focus on its upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusives like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. There are also rumors that Sony may unveil its next major hardware project, possibly a new PlayStation VR headset or a slim version of the PS5.

While Nintendo has traditionally been a major presence at Gamescom, the company has confirmed that it will not be attending in 2024. This decision has fueled speculation about the timeline for the next-gen “Switch 2,” rumored to launch in 2025. Nintendo is expected to focus on other events throughout the year to showcase its upcoming games (Try Hard Guides) (VGC).

Ubisoft will likely showcase more of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, set for release later this year, alongside updates for The Division and the long-awaited Skull & Bones. Fans are also hopeful for news on the next Far Cry installment.

Notable indie developers like Devolver Digital and Annapurna Interactive will bring fresh and unique gaming experiences. Devolver is expected to unveil new titles, while Annapurna will likely showcase their narrative-driven games.

In terms of surprises, there’s speculation that Bethesda could hint at a new Elder Scrolls title, though that may still be years away. With major players present and new releases on the horizon, Gamescom 2024 is shaping up to be a great event for gamers worldwide.
